Via a quick Internet search you can find sites and web pages about Earth Day (e.g., Earthday.net, US EPA, Earthday.gov, Wikipedia).

Since millions celebrated the first earth day in 1970, has the world (as a unified force for good) come far enough?

Will the coming near global IT profession increasingly help enable pros and public to make a positive difference for all earth and humanity matters of high purpose?

Will software, technology and information increasingly be utilized as a force for good?

Consumers want better protection and greater positive results. Consumers need to be increasingly empowered. Everyone has (and must have) a stake in making things better from various perspectives. Working increasingly together it is possible for the world to achieve great things for current and future generations. Life can increasingly be safe, prosperous and fun for all. Give positive energy to others. Dream positive. Do what you can in a positive forward thinking direction to help manifest dimensions of innate joy intrinsically and pervasively throughout the interconnected universe. Do what you can to increase the potential for everyday to be a great one, for everyone. Do what you can to manifest positive fellowship within all beings and creations. Thank you for doing so. Have a great Earth Day, April 22. Have a great day today and everyday.

Computers and the Internet, and all that are part of the interconnected universe can increasingly make a positive difference.

Technorati Tags: IDG,IBM,InherentQuality,Gantthead,The Good Life

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-17T13:32:01Z</dcterms:modified>

PCI DSS, the next version; Windows, begs for radical makeover; Einstein, more than a bright fellow; Paul Gillin

Sharing a few miscellaneously update bits from TechTarget related sites:

PCI DSS, the next version (coming September)
Windows begs for radical makeover (says Gartner analyst)
Einstein, network monitoring tool (used by the US Department of Homeland Security)

BTW, as a bit of an update related to TechTarget, check-out David Strom's Web Informant April 7, 2008 post... excerpt below.

As a freelancer and business owner, I wear many hats, and some of you might not know about all of my activities, so pardon the self-promotion of this week’s note. For the past year, give or take a few weeks, Paul Gillin and I have had the pleasure of producing an almost weekly series of podcasts called TechPR War Stories. We have covered new and old media, interviewed some impressive guests including other tech journalists, marketing bloggers and generally had a real blast putting the show together. For those of you that don’t know Paul, he has been an editorial manager in IT for many years, founding TechTarget and now also working on his own. His lovely wife Dana is our audio engineer and producer.

Technorati Tags: PCI DSS,Microsoft Windows,Homeland Security,TechTarget

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-10T17:14:28Z</dcterms:modified>

RSA: Microsoft chief research and strategy officer calls for a wide-ranging discussion about creating a more trustworthy Internet

Here is a link to the RSA '08 story. Below are a couple of excerpts.

Research officer Craig Mundie's proposal includes the creation of a trusted computing stack in which software, hardware, people, and data can be authenticated.

The idea, a safer Internet, certainly sounds appealing. But the devil is in the details. In all likelihood, Microsoft will be providing updates on its End to End Trust proposal at the 2009 RSA Conference, and in the years that follow, for quite some time. "This is a launch of a long term initiative that we think will bear fruit over time, but is very important in improving people's trust in the Internet," said Lipner.

Technorati Tags: RSA,Microsoft

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-10T15:15:31Z</dcterms:modified>

Virtual World, Third Life

You may have heard of Second Life, however for an update about Third Life see this post on InternetEvolution.Com by Site Editor Nicole Ferraro.

Technorati Tags: Second Life

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-01T18:15:40Z</dcterms:modified>

The future of IT (Professionals)

Interesting post over at ITKE by the Community Manager. Have a read, give the future some thought, and be part of making things continually better. Now is a good time for you to make a step into the future of your dreams. When doing so dreaming big is good, however you should probably also give attention to making small steps. Even a journey of light years begins with a single step, so get started today as a small step for you could enable giant leaps for you and others in the future.

Dan Millman's post 22 January 2008 reminds us of the importance of living in the present moment. It also goes so far as to tell dreamers they should take some type of job while their creative aspirations continue to mature. He adds, "maybe those small dreams, more easily fulfilled, will lead, over time, to bigger dreams." He suggests further that in the meantime "instead of striving for extraordinary, experience the joy of being ordinary."

Dan of course is an author of several books and a former world champion gymnast and co-captain of the U.C. Berkeley United States champion gymnastics team. Dan lives in California with his wife Joy, and has been on the faculty at Berkeley, Stanford, and Oberlin Universities as gymnastic coach. If you have yet to see his movie "The Peaceful Warrior", it is a must see.

I just watched The Peaceful Warrior again and it brought back memories of my teenage years. For example, of High School years when I wrote bits of code in the basement of the Dalhousie University Library and got a chance to compete in gymnastics with the university team against other universities in Canada. Those were fun times including competing in gymnastics in the Canada Winter Games, and playing other competitive sports like hockey, while being on a ball team that won a National Junior Championship. I subsequently coached young athletes to similar or better accomplishments before moving on to career and industry matters pertaining to IT.

When I think of my journey it has been an interesting one which has included many small steps (including about five years ago after I tore my Achilles doing gymnastics at a company picnic). The questions I share now are simply a few more small steps. Ideally they get you dreaming about the future and a positive small step you should take.

Will the future include...

Growth in nonprofit organizations? For example, perhaps like this one which aims to help create a world in which all people feel encouraged to cultivate and use their inner, intuitive resources.

Growth in thinking allowed? For example as I do now, or in relation to sites like Thinking Allowed (Conversations on the leading edge of knowledge and discovery). As further example, such as perhaps involving the thinking allowed conversations style of a Knowledge Cafe (see video at the bottom of this page).

Growth in virtual interactions? For example to the point they become increasingly the norm for social and business models in coming decades.

As you get ready to relax this weekend, perhaps make a small step and give thought to how you can help ensure that quality and value are increasingly, intrinsically and pervasively associated with software, technology, information and life in the future. Perhaps also give thought to how to help further enable a future that is brighter for all people within the current and future generations.

Thank you for all you do. Good Luck, may all your dreams come true!

Is that true? Not likely. But there are many applications that could take advantage of DSP technology. However, designing in the latest and greatest processor is just where the design begins. It's the algorithms that run on that processor that really make the difference. Keep that in mind when you're selecting a DSP. Other elements that must be considered are the power level that must be achieved, and the bill of materials budget that must be adhered to. Finally, make sure that your DSP of choice is surrounded by the proper ecosystem, meaning that the tools, software, support, etc., are all in place. All of these issues will be addressed in the latest of Embedded System Design's popular Webinar series, Designing with DSPs." (complimentary webinar Feb 20, 2008)

Technorati Tags: Embedded Design DSP

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-02-13T18:01:56Z</dcterms:modified>

Read more... InherentQuality.Com, visit Weblog and IT Knowledge Exchange, VIIP (value-inherent, intrinsic and pervasive).
